Matkapäiväkirja Berliini 2015

20.4.2015 – Day 1

I woke up around 2 am which was way too early for me.  My dad took me to our school and we went by bus to the airport. I felt very excited but tired at the same time. Our flight left 6.40 and soon we were in Berlin. At first we had a bit of chaos going on. Everything was so weird and new. We went to the hotel and left our bags. By then I was tired and hungry which isn’t a good combination. After getting some food everything was alright again and we went straight to the town. We did quite a lot of walking which in my opinion is the best way to explore the city. I was impressed and Berlin seemed to be a nice city. We were also lucky enough to have awesome weather. In the evening we were so tired that we went to bed already around 8 pm.

21.2.2015 – Päivä 2

Aamulla heräsimme erittäin virkeinä lähes 12 tunnin yöunien jälkeen. Aamupala oli tosi hyvää ja valinnanvaraa löytyi. Pian sen jälkeen lähdimme yhdessä bussilla Valtiopäivätalolle, josta jatkoimme jalan Brandenburgin portille. Ensimmäisenä ihmetyttivät rakennusten koot ja niiden pikkutarkat yksityiskohdat. Myöhemmin jatkoimme matkaa museolle josta löytyi mm. veistos Nefertitin päästä. Totta puheen ollen se oli ehkä ainoa mielenkiintoinen esine museossa. Museon jälkeen meillä oli vähän vapaa-aikaa jolloin kävimme syömässä ja kaupoissa. Ruoka Berliinissä on kohtuullisen halpaa ja itse en ainakaan kokenut pettymyksiä.

Myöhemmin päivällä kävimme myös eläintarhassa joka oli valtava. Siellä oli paljon sellaisia eläimiä, joita en ollut ikinä nähnyt. Varsinkin gorilla, tapiiri ja kirahvi olivat sellaisia, joita halusin käydä katsomassa. Mielipiteeni eläintarhasta on vähän ristiriitainen. Toisaalta on hauska käydä katsomassa eläimiä, varsinkin niitä eksoottisia, mutta tekee myös pahaa nähdä eläimet pienissä häkeissä jotka eivät vastaa niiden luonnollisia olosuhteita. Petokissat olivat käymisemme aikana sisällä pienissä häkeissä ja osa ihmisistä suorastaan kiusasi niitä. Se oli ahdistava kokemus.

22.4.2015 – Day 3

We woke up early to catch the metro. It was very busy and we actually couldn’t move. We went to Checkpoint Carlie which was a crossing point between East and West Berlin during the Cold War. The museum was small and full of people and occasionally it was difficult to see some of the objects or read the explanations. I still enjoyed my time there and I was surprised how people came up with such cool and dangerous ideas when they tried to escape to West Berlin.

After the museum we went to see the Memorial to the murdered jews of Europe. It was impressive but I didn’t really catch the idea of it. It was quite like the one that was in the Jewish museum. That was our next destination. I found the museum to be really fascinating. Especially the Holocaust tower and the Garden of exile were very touching. But for the most I liked Memory void. It was so haunting and I felt really anxious while walking over the iron faces. The thought of hearing them scream was very heartbreaking.  It was one of those places that I will never forget.

23.4.2015 – Päivä 4

Tänään emme käyneet ryhmänä muualla kuin historiallisessa museossa. Aluksi se vaikutti ja tuntui hiukan tylsältä, mutta tykkäsin näyttelystä jossa oli esillä Kylmän sodan aikaista esineistöä. Tänään teimme myös viimeiset shoppailut. Olen onnistunut tuhlaamaan ihan mukavasti tällä reissulla. Illalla olimme taas niin väsyneistä että pakkasimme laukut ja menimme aikaisin nukkumaan. Reissu on ollut hirveän mukava, kun vapaa-aikaa on ollut paljon ja olemme käyneet kaikenlaisissa mielenkiintoisissa kohteissa. Vähän harmittaa, että seuraavan päivänä on lähtö kotiin.

24.4.2015 – Day 5

Our last day started well. We left our bags to the hotel and we took a train to go Potsdam. I really liked the town. It was open and less busy than Berlin. We went to see some old buildings which were huge and decorated. Afterwards we went to have some lunch which was so good! In the evening our flight left around 9 pm and I was so tired. I can’t sleep while I’m sitting so I just had to deal with it. Last day went so fast. I’m glad that I decided to come to this trip.
